William W. (Bill) Drummy has always focused his practice in trial work, trying hundreds of jury trials throughout south central Indiana as well as Federal Court in Indianapolis, Terre Haute, and Evansville.
His proudest accomplishment is the recognition by his peers, reflected in his induction as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1997. He is also an advocate with the American Board of Trial Advocates (an organization consisting of trial lawyers who have tried a minimum of 50 jury trials) and has been elected an Indiana “Super Lawyer” by his peers each year since its inception, 2004 through 2011.

Bill’s practice today is divided among the following areas:

  • Medical malpractice defense, including a number of high profile cases, one of which resulted in a featured “60 Minutes” story and generated multiple jury trials.
  • Employment law, including age discrimination, gender discrimination, the “Americans with Disabilities Act,” and sexual harassment defense.
  • Products liability defense, an area where Bill’s love of tinkering with anything powered by a gasoline motor has provided valuable hands-on experience.
  • Personal injury defense arising from automobile collisions, train accidents, premises liability, chemical spills, grain bin collapses, and virtually every other type of casualty loss that has come along in Bill’s years of practice.
  • Insurance coverage issues, insurance company direct actions, declaratory judgments and bad faith defense.
  • City and county liability for vehicles, jails, and law enforcement activities.

Bill and Jamie live on a 100-acre farm east of Terre Haute, where Bill spends his time tinkering with old automobiles, doing a bit of farming, tending a large garden, as well as the family’s dogs, three horses, a small flock of heirloom free range chickens, a few hives of bees, and small herd of registered Texas Longhorn cattle. Jamie is a kindergarten teacher with the Vigo County School Corporation. All family members are active road bicyclists, an interest developed after Bill’s son, Brian, was a member of the winning “Little 500” bicycle race at Indiana University in 2001.Bill’s oldest daughter, Erin, is a respiratory therapist who has now graduated from law school and practices with a large health law firm in Indianapolis.
Bill’s youngest are twins, Becky and Brian. Becky is a neonatal intensive care nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, where she follows in the footsteps of her grandmother, also a registered nurse. Brian is a lawyer practicing with a Bloomington law firm in much of the same areas as his father. Bill is a licensed, instrument rated pilot who enjoys flying his plane in his spare time.
